We are settling in to a new pattern of worship services with our minister Rev Bill Hunter and the local Worship Team. With the imminent closure of Kilmeny and Portnahaven Church buildings, the majority of services will be held in St Kiaran's Church with a change of time to 10.30am
As both buildings remain unsold they will be used up to 6 times in the year. These services will be joint so there will be no service in St Kiaran's that Sunday. The first of these will be on Sunday 25th February in Kilmeny Church. The second will be in Portnahaven on Sunday 31st March, Easter Sunday, and will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion. All services are intimated well in advance.
Welcome to Islay
Welcome to the united charge of North and West Islay Church of Scotland. Our charge consists of three churches, Kilmeny, Portnahaven and St Kiaran's, on the Hebridean island of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.
Our minister conducts the service in two churches each Sunday and a member of the Worship Team of 9 leads the third. We operate under the Unitary Constitution with one Kirk Session for all three churches and 5 teams, reporting to the Kirk Session, seeing to the day-to-day organisation of the church. There are three joint services in the year, one in each church in rotation with Communion held in one.
